15th February Upstairs @ The Garage, Highbury, London

Three Children Of Fortune
Mohair
Delta Chi
Cujo

The threesome specialize in creating visceral, angry and abrasive take on British alternative guitar music. Taking their cues from the post-punk of Sonic Youth, Pavement, and Slint they combine primal emotion, English dirty finger-nails and a strong understanding of clever (but not compromised) melody. Several tours of the UK , “winners” at In The City, and XFM sessions under their belt, Three Children of Fortune are all set for a very big year. Glasswerk is delighted to have them headline the opening night.

Assured, loud and undeniably different, Mohair are something like a phenomenon. Take a good slug of guitars, a Hammond organ, bass and drums, mix it with four astounding vocal capabilities and an x-factor of energy you can't put your finger on and you have the full on rock and roll sound of Mohair. Mohair have played over 400 gigs throughout the UK and Ireland , and supported Garbage at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Their debut single “Brown Eyes Blue”, released in May 2004, was play listed on Radio 2 for 4 weeks where they also played a Janice Long live session.

Londoners Delta Chi have the honour of opening Outbreak, and their infectious indie riffs are certain to get it off to a fine start.

“This is original indie, the same indie that Echo and the bunnymen and The Smiths themselves defined: sometimes skeletal, sometimes big-hearted; sometimes high and charming” – Logo Magazine

“Delta Chi may just be the saviours of indie that, lets face it, we've all been looking for, ever since Britpop died a horrible death in the late nineties”. – Drowned in Sound

Cujo are a new breed of Britrock beast; a band reared on chunky lumberjack shirt 90s American rock but, unlike many of their contemporaries, with a distinctly British bite. Here is a band that won't be content to be the Limey Papa Roach, they'll not rest until Papa Roach are the Yank Cujo. And here is a band with a history that makes Bleak House look like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
