18th February Upstairs @ The Garage, Highbury, London

Arctic Monkeys
Chineapples
Steranko
Second Sun

Arctic Monkeys have a notable talent for penning a social comment or two, mixed up with intensly catchy melodies. Having crafted their songs on the streets of Sheffield, this will be their debut London show and certainly one to remember.

CHINEAPPLES are on the verge of something big. Currently taking East London by storm, their genre-busting set list has had audiences captivated. From low-slung blues influenced loveliness to full-on rock and roll, the Chineapples are one of the most exciting new bands to hit the capital. With January 2005 seeign their first XFM radio airplay, the year is already looking bright for Chineapples.

Anyone who has ever seen Steranko play just knows that no two gigs are ever the same. You may be one of the industry bods who got the shock of their lives at Manchester 's In The City, when singer and loon Lee Mangan shepherded everyone away from the bar to the adjacent live venue, before bouncing off all four walls to the Mancunian delight. This is rock at its finest, with one of the most dynamic frontmen in the game.

Indie Rock band Second Sun have regularly traipsed the London Circuit, and every gig they play seems to win them more and more admirers. With a record deal on the cards, this could be one of the bands to keep an eye on in 2005.

"Coming on like Green-era REM, the Kent quartet justify the song with a top class display of ambition. Either they are secretly produced by John Leckie or they know how to sound sky scraping on 10p and a four track. Matching their previous demo for instantly memorable choruses, their days of doing weekly sessions for Lamacq can't be far away." – Pick of the Week
